Smugglers Stash

Smugglers’ Stash & News

Hello everyone, and Happy Sunday! We’ve got a lot to cover in this edition of the Smugglers’ Stash, so let’s dive right in, shall we?

A Mergealicious Podcast:

The Merger (final cover)

Did you hear? Literally, did you hear? The Merger by Sunil Patel, one of Book Smugglers Publishing’s First Contact stories, has been turned into a podcast over at StarShipSofa! Read by actor Al Barclay, The Merger comes to hilarious life and we could not be more thrilled. If you enjoy intergalactic comedy, weird food combinations, and blobish aliens, go forth and give the podcast a listen! You won’t regret it.

Spindle City Serials:

Spindle City Mystery Series

In other exciting Book Smugglers Publishing news, last week we published The Case of the Little Bloody Slipper by Carlie St. George, the first story in our Spindle City Mystery series. We also announced the start of a new program, Spindle City Serials (a brand new way to get your fix of Jimmy and Jack every week as they take on the nefarious characters who work Spindle’s dark underbelly), which kicks off tomorrow!

With a subscription ($4.99 total), you receive serialized episode-sized chunks of the next two books in the Spindle City series delivered to your inbox every Monday morning. AND, at the end of each story arc (2 arcs of 3 episodes each), you’ll receive a DRM-free ebook of the full story as part of your subscription (including a copy of Bloody Slipper, on us).

(You’ll be taken to paypal, and will automatically be signed up to receive episodes starting tomorrow!)

This Week on The Book Smugglers:

On Monday, Ana kicks off the week with a Middle Grade review bonanza, including: The House of Eyes by Patricia Elliott; Binny in Secret by Hilary McKay; and Third Class Murder by Robin Stevens. PLUS, we’ll have a Big Announcement on Monday–so stay tuned.

Tuesday, it’s Thea’s turn with a review of Earth Flight by Janet Edwards–the highly anticipated third and final book in the Earth Girl series.

Wednesday, we have a joint review of another highly anticipated book–the epistolary novel Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff.

On Thursday, it’s time for Catherine Farris King’s Decoding the Newbery column–this time, she takes on Robin McKinley classic The Hero and the Crown.

And on Friday, we close out the week with Thea over at Kirkus–as she freaks out a little bit at all the books she has on her shelf, with a goal to finish each of these SFF titles before the end of the year.

It’s a busy week! Until tomorrow, we remain…

    Hey guys,
Thanks for posting the podcast link. We loved Sunil’s story over at SSS and we’re thrilled to have it. Thank you for buying such a great story with a delicious amount of dark humour.

Hopefully it won’t be the last Book Smugglers story we take!

    Cheers,

I’m so glad to hear that! Al told me he went for the voice for a greedy bureaucrat with the Blarbsnab, and I think the pulled it off! You can never have too much Blarbsnarbian shenanigans!

And thank you very much! For what it’s worth, we open back to submissions in early January. If you wanted to ping all your authors to shoot over their Book Smuggler stories to us, that would be awesome. =)
