Giveaway: Otherbound by Corinne Duyvis

Hello everybody!

Last week Ana reviewed the fabulous Otherbound by Corinne Duyvis. She LOVED IT. To celebrate its release this week, we are giving away an ARC of the book, courtesy of the author.

About the Book:

Other Bound

Amara is never alone. Not when she’s protecting the cursed princess she unwillingly serves. Not when they’re fleeing across dunes and islands and seas to stay alive. Not when she’s punished, ordered around, or neglected.

She can’t be alone, because a boy from another world experiences all that alongside her, looking through her eyes.

Nolan longs for a life uninterrupted. Every time he blinks, he’s yanked from his Arizona town into Amara’s mind, a world away, which makes even simple things like hobbies and homework impossible. He’s spent years as a powerless observer of Amara’s life. Amara has no idea . . . until he learns to control her, and they communicate for the first time. Amara is terrified. Then, she’s furious.

All Amara and Nolan want is to be free of each other. But Nolan’s breakthrough has dangerous consequences. Now, they’ll have to work together to survive–and discover the truth about their connection.

Otherbound sounds like something a little different, I’d like to try it. BTW, I’m about halfway through Zahrah the Windseeker and enjoying it although it was not easy to track down a library copy here in the Cleveland area. Thanks for the review.

I was so excited to read your review of Otherbound, and put it on hold at my library immediately. When I was a kid, I used to think it would be awesome if my dreams were a continuous alternate-universe fantasy narrative– so I’m especially intrigued by the conceit. Also, also someone who now studies literature, I’m quite interested in the ideas of spectatorship and witnessing atrocities vicariously — it seems like Duyvis is looking at that general issue of what it means to witness another’s suffering from a distance in a really interesting way.

I too am intrigued by the conceit. With so many books in this genre, it is something to celebrate when an author manages to come up with something new!

I’ve had this one on my to-read list since Meineke over at A Fantastical Librarian listed it as one of her anticipated reads of the year. Glad to see it’s not disappointing, and would love to give it a try myself. 🙂

I’ve been hoping to pick up a copy of this book since I read the review. I’ve heard the premise before but I don’t think I’ve ever seen it done with a male and a female character.

Disabled characteeerrrrsss. Give me all the disabled characttteerrssss. (That is an accurate impression of me in real life, making snake sounds in excitement.) Bisexual disabled characters are even better, hence why I’m extra eager for Otherbound.
