Ana and I have embarked on a new Book Smuggler adventure together: The Dare. Not just any dare. The Triple Dog Dare.
In my recent “From Thea’s Dungeon” post, I shook the dust off one of my favorite books of all time, Jacqueline Carey’s Kushiel’s Dart. I have been nagging Ana to read this book for aaaaaaages, but alas to no avail.
Also recently, Ana and I had our first Book Debate over Kresley Cole’s A Hunger Like No Other. Ana LOVED it, while I HATED it. In the thrall of Ms. Cole, Ana ran out and purchased the next few books in the Immortals After Dark Series and promptly began pestering me to give Ms. Cole another shot and try book 2 of the series.
Ana has admitted that she is a teensy bit intimidated by the type of book Kushiel’s Dart is (kinky? too much fantasy?), while I admit that I had read A Hunger Like No Other before reading any “proper” romance novels (therefore was completely taken aback by the crazy over the top sex from literally the first chapter).
Being brave women of the world, making an art of smuggling books into enemy territory, we are never ones to back down from a challenge. Kinda like Marty McFly in Back to the Future II & III.
So…we dared each other. Ana Dared me to give Kresley Cole another shot because I just might like it, and I Double Dog Dared Ana to finally give Kushiel’s Dart a chance because the book is really just that damn good. To which she replied with the sinister, unbeatable Triple Dog Dare that we do both and write reviews on them.
And so here we are! We’ll have our reviews comin’ atcha this week.
