Over at Kirkus: Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes

It’s Friday so this means we are over at Kirkus! This week, Thea reviews fantasy novel Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes.

The combination of pretty cover, strong blurb, and early praise made Thea eager to try this book…unfortunately, Falling Kingdoms failed to impress (to say the least). Let’s just say if you’re looking for complex awesome crossover YA/Adult fantasy, you’d best look elswhere. Go HERE to get the full story.

It’s a shame to see a book like Falling Kingdoms get everything right — except for the most important thing.

Yeah, same feelings here. Such a bummer because the potential was HUGE.

I read it such a shame, I am so often misled these days and find books among little known names.I recently stumbled upon an excellent erotic read called Mr. Glamour by Richard Godwin, it is quite simply a great read, about people into designer gear and an erotic club, a real page turner!

And I had this book on my TBR list. Great assessment, by the way, on the characterization, setting, and the crops!

YES! I have been waiting forever for this review and I loved reading it at Kirkus because it validated a lot of my feelings about the book, and you know sometimes I feel the need for validation where it seems like everyone but me loved it. And then some people were like oh I wasn’t into it but fantasy fans will love it, which honestly irritated me because if you like fantasy you can tell the good from the bad, etc.

Anyways sorry to unload in your comments section but I was little bit TOO excited about reading your review FINALLY! πŸ™‚

I’m in the middle of Falling Kingdoms right now and honestly don’t know if I can finish it; I agreed completely with your review. The book has some wonderful ideas that are lost in the simplistic writing of the characters and the world. It’s just not interesting! Did you also happen to notice the abundance of the word “secret” on practically every page? It’s extremely distracting. Every character has a secret and talks about said “secret” constantly. Ugh. Love your blog and your reviews btw!
