Over at Kirkus, Thea talks about what to read when you’re tired of The Walking Dead.
It’s Friday, which means we are over at Kirkus! Today it’s Thea’s turn, and she takes a dark, post-apocalyptic turn with a graphic novel series published in 2009…
Two weeks ago, Thea reviewed the exquisite Vertigo Quarterly CMYK: Black (Vol 4) – an anthology collecting various short stories inspired by the color/theme black. Amongst the included comics was a short from Jeff Lemire, called “Sweet Tooth Black”; a poignant tale about growing up, listening to one’s father, and the consequences of blind belief. Turns out, “Sweet Tooth Black” is a prequel to the Sweet Tooth series – a Vertigo comic book published between 2009 and 2013.
Thea devoured the first couple of trades and LOVED THEM. Get her take on Sweet Tooth: Out of the Deep Woods over at Kirkus. Move over, Walking Dead. Gus is where it’s at.

February 13, 2015 at 9:43 pmI actually had no idea this series was over! I was getting the library to buy them for me, but they stopped and then I fell behind… I am thinking I am not that far behind if it is over!

February 14, 2015 at 9:16 amKailana – It is over! And you probably aren’t too far behind! FINISH IT! I will be reviewing the rest of the books here on The Book Smugglers at some point in the near future. It’s so, so good, isn’t it?
