Itβs Friday, which means we are over at Kirkus! Today, Thea reviews bestselling Japanese fantasy novel (turned manga and anime series) Guardian of the Spirit by Nahoko Uehashi…
…and she freaking LOVED it. This beautiful, thoughtful yet action-packed book features a superhero-like female protagonist as well as richly diverse worldbuilding, cultures, and characters. Go HERE to get the full story.

But the truly painful thing is that there are actually like 7/8 books in the Moribito series altogether, but only the first two were translated because sales were too low for Scholastic to keep going with the series. So fingers crossed that your review spikes enough renewed interest in the series to make them reconsider!

Katie A – If the first two books are as awesome as Thea and you say, it’s distressing knowing there are six more books in the series that are unavailable to us who don’t read Japanese. Ack!
