So, one of my New Year’s Resolutions is to keep a tab on what I read this year. After I decided that, I also resolved that I should review them to keep things remotely tidy. Which brought me to the idea of the blog, which then brings me to The Challenge.
In the last few months of 2007 I saw myself binge reading and I think I must have read about 40 books in 5 months, which averages about 8 books per month. I am therefore challenging myself to break that record and I propose to read 130 books by the end of December 2008.
Is it possible that I am not only forgettable but also, crazy? Yes, very much so. Do I intend to stop my life and do nothing but to read? No, of course not. I fully intend to keep with trivial pursuits such as eating, sleeping and anything in between: travelling, spending time with my partner and my friends and watching TV shows, movies, etc. Life as usual, but probably with a book under my arm whenever I go and whatever I do.
With regards to which books I will read, the majority will surely be Romance Novels. The remaining will be Fantasy, Other Fiction, a couple of Graphic Novels and at least 5 non-fictional. I promise not to cheat and end up reading 30 very thin children’ s books and I also promise not to count cookery books and travel guides. Cross my heart. Nonetheless, every single book I read, I will review it here so you will be able to follow me. Who knows? Maybe I will read more than 130!
Let the Challenge begin!
